The BMS is not limited to collecting technical data. In avionics in particular, it communicates directly with the pilot. It processes the information in line with the pilot’s individual requirements and settings and translates it into easy-to-understand status displays, warnings and specific instructions for action.

Depending on the application, safety level and configuration, the BMS can prevent the battery pack from being recommissioned until the affected cell has been replaced and proper condition has been restored.

An automatic lockout could prevent reactivation or the next takeoff, or result in a controlled shutdown of the propulsion system during flight if deliberately confirmed by the pilot.
