Friedrichshafen, April 2025 — At this year’s AERO Friedrichshafen Neomium officially unveiled the CÆSIUM® Cs-40 - a 40-kilowatt high-voltage motor controller for light electric vehicles. This marks an important milestone for open-source electric propulsion systems in aviation and beyond.
Over the four well-attended days of the trade show, the Cs-40 attracted the interest of numerous ultralight and glider manufacturers, engineers, and system integrators. They are all seeking a modern, thermally stable, and open platform for the next generation of electric aircraft.
With a peak power output of 40 Kilowatt (54 PS) and an operating voltage of up to 200 Volt — designed for 46S lithium-ion batteries—the Cs-40 provides precisely the power and voltage ranges required for electric aviation applications. At the same time, it avoids the typical drawbacks of conventional motor controllers, including proprietary closed systems and thermal limitations.
The controller is based on the powerful VESC®- software developed by an active community. It enables extensive parameter configuration and data visualization, as well as compatibility with a wide range of motors—even low-inductance outrunner motors used in drones.
Another crowd favorite was the compact and elegantly designed BreezeDude Mini, a precise wind and weather station for developers and aviation engineers. The device uses fully open-source firmware, supports flexible interface protocols, and was demonstrated live on the rear wall of the AtlasAero exhibition stand.
The trade show also marked the debut of AtlasAeros Terra420 its pre-order premiere. The electric paraglider propulsion system was developed specifically for quiet, emission-free flying. Equipped with Neomium components, it attracted considerable interest from both recreational pilots and commercial ultralight aircraft manufacturers.
