Motor Controller

The right drive for your application. Maximum efficiency and performance, low heat generation, and a compact form factor. Your PMSM inrunner motor can also be individually tailored to your specific requirements.

Motor Controller Cs-40

  • 40 kW peak power at up to 200 V
The CÆSIUM® The Cs‑40 is designed for lithium-ion battery systems with up to 46 cells in series and a maximum voltage of 200 V. It delivers up to 220 A of phase current; with suitable cooling, continuous currents exceeding 150 A are possible.
  • FOC for low-inductance PMSM and BLDC motors
The field-oriented current control is also designed for low-inductance motors. Sensorless, sensor-based, and hybrid operation enable precise torque control at speeds of up to 100,000 electrical revolutions per minute.
  • Open VESC®-platform in the 200 V class
The Cs‑40 combines its high-voltage power stage with the open VESC®-firmware and the established VESC Tool. Motor parameters, control limits, and diagnostic values remain accessible for development, commissioning, and application-specific extensions.
  • Thermally optimized power electronics
Infineon®-IRF-MOSFETs and a purpose-built cooling system efficiently dissipate heat from the power stage. As a result, the controller is designed not only for short-term peak power but also for high phase currents under continuous load.
  • Four-quadrant operation with regenerative braking
The Cs‑40 supports both motoring and generating operation in both directions of rotation. During braking, energy can be fed back into the battery system, while separate current, voltage, speed, and temperature limits protect the motor, controller, and battery.
  • Direct system integration and diagnostics
CAN, USB, and UART, along with additional I²C and SPI interfaces, enable integration with vehicle control systems, the BMS, and test benches. Configuration, measurement display, and fault diagnostics are performed using the VESC Tool.
